The Acting-Attorney General, Mr. Akram Al-Khateeb has participated in opening Dora's Prosecution and Magistrates Court, in the presence of The caretaker, PM Dr, Rami Alhamdallah, the president of the Palestinian Judicial Council, Mr. Imad Saleem, Hebron Governor, Jebreen Al-Bakri, the delegate of the European Union, Ralph Trav, the Mayor of Dora, Ahmad Salhob, a representative of the Palestinian Bar association, and number of ministries, judges, prosecutors, and security forces.
H.E the consular, Akram Hasan Al-Khatib has performed his legal oath as an Attorney General of the State of Palestine before the president Mahmoud Abbas.
This has also taken place in the presence of the Minister of Justice, Mr. Ali Abu Diak, and the President's Legal Affairs Adviser, Mr. Ali Mhana.
The Acting Attorney General, Mr. Akram Al-Khatib , with the Minister of Justice, Dr. Ali Abu Diak, the representative of the European Union, Mrs. Alessandra Fezier and the Director of the Palestinian Judicial Institute, Mrs. Rasha Hammad have participated in launching the project ( Justice Skills) and honoring graduates of the 5-days TOT program, which is aimed at preparing a group of qualified trainers who are able to transfer their expertise, and their scientific & practical knowledge to others.
Mr. Akram Al-Khatib, the Acting Attorney General, has met with the Consul General of the British United Kingdom in the State of Palestine, Mr. Philip Hall. Both parties have discussed the means and the mechanisms of cooperation and coordination among them, the role of the various partners in the justice sector as well as the need for continuing support from local and international partners to the law enforcement agencies in the State of Palestine. The meeting took place in the presence of Mr. Yaser Hammad, chief prosecutor and the head of the planning& Policy department, and Mr. Khalid Awad, the chief prosecutor and the head of the technical office.
CIDA and the Canadian Department of Justice developed a comprehensive five year project to support and promote the Public Prosecution Services. Sharaka project depends on Canadian expertise and leadership to bridge the gap in international aid aiming at supporting the Palestinian judicial sector.
Mateen project focuses mainly on developing selected public prosecution offices in six districts; Nablus, Jericho, Tulkarem, Qalqilia, Dura and Hebron in the technical aspect of their work, developing and automating case management at these offices, as well as training and developing the capacity of prosecutors and administrative staff.
The Swedish representative provided a grant during the years 2009 and 2010 to support the urgent needs of the justice sector institutions: the Public Prosecution, the High Judicial Council and the Ministry of Justice.
