The Attorney General, Mr Akram Al Khateeb has discussed means of cooperation with ILF delegation, represented by The Partnership and Advocacy Director, Ms Itchil in the legal assistance aspects.
The meeting aimed at building a partnership, coordination, and cooperation on the legal assistance of the children, the representation of accused juveniles without distinction as to age or sex, ensuring fair trial and protection from violence, which children may be subjected to.
The Attorney General, Mr Akram Al Khateeb has participated in the first meeting of the Arab General Prosecutors Conference, accompanied by the Chief Prosecutors, Mr Yaser Hamad, and the Prosecutor, Mr Ahed Toqan, which held in Cairo under the title " the Arab Public Prosecutions unite to combat crime".
The Attorney General has met with the supervisor of the Committee charged by the H.E the President Mahmoud Abbas, to examine the offences in Bethlehem Territories, The Minister, the Counsel of the President, Ziad Bandk, the Head of the Palestinian Land and Water Settlement Commission, Judge, Musa Shakarneh, and the Governor of Bethlehem, Major-General, Kamel Hemad. The committee members have also attended including: the Head of Bethlehem, Col. Ala Shlalabi, The Director of PSS in Bethlehem, Col. Salem Kesi, the Legal Advisor of the Ministry of Justice Mr. Mamou'n Mahamed, and the Legal Advisor of Bethlehem Governorate, Mr. Nasem Deqmaq.
The Attorney General Dr.Akram Alkhatib has met a high- level delegation from the Federal Republic of Germany, headed by Judge Barbara Havliza\ the Justice Minister of Lower Saxony, Mr. Christian Klages the head of the German Representative Office in Ramallah, a number of heads of courts & judges, the Attorney General of Braunschweig, representatives of reforming and rehabilitation centers, and legal advisers, in the presence of the head of the technical office\ Chief Prosecutor Mr. Khalid Awad, and the head of the Planning &Policy department\ Chief Prosecutor Mr.Yaser Hammad. Both sides discussed the mechanisms of cooperation and coordination in various areas.
CIDA and the Canadian Department of Justice developed a comprehensive five year project to support and promote the Public Prosecution Services. Sharaka project depends on Canadian expertise and leadership to bridge the gap in international aid aiming at supporting the Palestinian judicial sector.
Mateen project focuses mainly on developing selected public prosecution offices in six districts; Nablus, Jericho, Tulkarem, Qalqilia, Dura and Hebron in the technical aspect of their work, developing and automating case management at these offices, as well as training and developing the capacity of prosecutors and administrative staff.
