Mateen Project was established through the Dutch participation in the Palestinian-Dutch cooperation aiming at supporting the public prosecution. The project focuses mainly on developing selected public prosecution offices in six districts; Nablus, Jericho, Tulkarem, Qalqilia, Dura and Hebron in the technical aspect of their work, developing and automating case management at these offices, as well as training and developing the capacity of prosecutors and administrative staff. This project was developed in accordance with a study prepared by the Dutch Representative in 2008, and started its activities in 2009. Following are the key goals of the project:
- Increase the professional capacity of the Palestinian public prosecution.
- Improve the performance of the public prosecution offices in the selected districts.
- Contribute to developing a professional public prosecution and an efficient criminal justice system in the Palestinian territories.
