Acting Attorney General Chairs the Security Council Decisions Enforcement Committee Meeting

Acting Attorney General Dr. Ahmad Barak chaired the first meeting of the Security Council Decisions Enforcement Committee in presence of the committee members identified in Presidential Decree No. 14 of 2015.

The committee commenced the meeting with a speech from the chair through which he clarified the outline and objectives to be achieved. It was also referred to the importance of the committee decisions. The Financial Follow-up Unite gave a comprehensive presentation of Security Council Decisions 1267 and 1373.

Key outcomes of the committee's first meeting included approving the establishment of the committee to develop the necessary instructions on the committee's work and its regulation, and the assignment of a secretary for the committee to monitor the implementation of its decisions and take meeting minutes.

The following decisions were reached at the end of the meeting in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 14 of 2015 on the enforcement of Security Council Decisions , particularly article 3 of the decree on the competence and mandate of the committee:

1.    Immediate freezing of assets and amounts belonging directly or indirectly to the persons or entities annexed and in accordance with Security Council Decision No. 1267 of 1999.

2.    Delegate the committee chair to address all relevant authorities towards applying the aforementioned decision.
